Top seeds Argentina wasted little time in defeating Uruguay to maintain their 100% winning record. Tomas Etcheverry starred for Argentina, defeating Facundo Lopez 62 62 in the opening rubber before teaming with Juan Bautista Otegui to defeat Uruguay’s Lopez and Jeronimo Urruty in the doubles tie after Camilo Ugo had put the tie beyond doubt with victory in the second rubber.

Second seeds Chile defeated Ecuador by the same margin, without dropping so much as a set.  Matias Soto sealed the deal for Chile in the second rubber with a 62 63 win over Ecuador’s Victor Hugo Nunez.  Third seeds Peru also posted a 3-0 win on day three, over Paraguay.

Fourth seeds Brazil ground out a hard-fought win over Colombia to keep their qualification hopes alive.  The tie was levelled at 1-1 after the two singles rubbers and Gabriel Decamps and Lucas Cruz were forced to fight back from a set down in the deciding doubles rubber to ultimately prevail 46 63 62 over the Colombian duo of Alejandro Pena and Sergio Hernandez.

In the girls’ event the seeds had more success today with three of the four recording wins.  Top seeds Colombia continued to impress, this time with a 3-0 victory over Argentina.  They sit at the top of Group A having dropped just one set in their opening two ties.

Second seeds Paraguay and fourth seeds Brazil also recorded 3-0 wins over their respective opponents, Uruguay and Bolivia.  Third seeds Ecuador, however, suffered their third loss of the week, this time against Venezuela.  Venezuala have won two out of two ties so far, without the loss of a set, so are sitting confidently at the top of Group B.  They face second seeds Paraguay in the next stage of their campaign.
