Marcelo Zormann (BRA) took the title in front of a home crowd with an impressive performance, posting a 61 62 victory over compatriot Orlando Luz.

“This is one of the best tournaments in Brazil. Last year I was runner-up in the 16 and under, but this time I´m the champion” – said Zormann who lives in São José dos Rio Preto, city that hosted Davis Cup in September, which saw Brazil triumph and regain a place in the world group.

In the girls' event it was Portugal's Ivone Alvaro who claimed who claimed her first ITF title.  Alvaro dispatched Brazil's Ingrid Martins in straight sets with the loss of just two games, 62 60.  Martins, however, was able to go one step further in the doubles event, pairing up with Luisa Rosa (BRA) to claim victory in a closely fought final, 75 76(4), against Eduarda Santos (BRA) and Kamilla Farhad (AZE).

During the ceremony where Gustavo Kuerten gave the prizes to the champions, he said:

“This was our best edition of Guga Kuerten Week. There are people here coming in the last four years, others are starting to take part now. For us it's marvelous to promote all of this, the integration, always was our goal. This new generation is doing very well in tennis. It´s amazing how this kids are getting better by the years. Congratulations – you´re fantastic. And I hope to see you again in 2013”.
