Iran holds ITN Challenge Day
An ITN (International Tennis Number) Challenge Day was conducted on August 21st, at Esteghlal Tennis Club in Tehran, Iran. A large number of participants including both juniors and adults, and players from 5 other provinces of Iran, participated and made the program the largest ITN assessment, not just in Iran, but in the whole of West Asia.

The ITN day was run by the club's director Mr. Hassan Tabatabai, and organized by Amir Borghei and Ara Sookezian, as well as 5 other coaches who formed the ITN Team. The ultimate goal was to give participants an international tennis rating that is recognised globally, and will help them to find other players and tournaments that suit their ability, and to provide them with motivation for further improvements in the different areas of their game.

Lots of families and tennis fans took part and made the program a memorable occasion for tennis in Tehran. High ranked officials from the Iran Physical Education Organization, Iran Tennis Federation and Tehran Tennis Association attended the event, and Mr. Abbas Khazaei former president of Iran Tennis Federation took the ITN On Court Assessment and scored an ITN 6!

Amir Borghei, organiser, said: "Feedback from participants was that they really enjoyed being assessed and becoming involved in the globally recognized International Tennis Number. The next step will be to organise a training camp specifically for the different ITN categories".

James Newmman, ITF Participation Coordinator, said "The ITN is an important tool in helping players to find other players and friends of a similar ability that they can play with, and appropriate tournaments to enter. With the simple 1 to 10 rating, players can simply find another 'ITN 6' and then get on court and play. The event in Tehran is a great example of providing a welcoming sport through ensuring a suitable opposition, rather than an overwhelming challenge".
