Objectives
To give all players a stimulating and motivating introduction to tennis, which will enable them and motivate them to play again To give all players an ITN which will enable all players to play with others of similar standard To provide all players with a personal ITN certificate
Suggested tournament format (example is for 16 players, ranging from 10.3-10.1)
4 full size courts are required
3 for 10.2/10.1 players. Depending on number of players and their ITN, more courts may be needed in order to split players into groups based on their ITN.
1 full size court for 10.3 is divided width-ways into 4 12X6m courts, using the doubles tramline as the baseline, with a barrier tape net down the middle of the court
All players are put into 2 teams. Each team has a hoop, into which a cone is placed every time a team member wins a match.
Players will play in half tracks for 10.1 & 10.2, with doubles tramlines counting as in. Players take alternate turns to serve.
Matches are timed, with 3 minute duration. Matches ending in a tie at end of 3 minutes play a one-point decider.
At end of each match, winners place a cone in their team hoop, and then all players rotate one space clockwise.
The winning team is the one with the most cones in their hoop at the end of the allocated time for the competition.
