Uzbekistan will play in Asia/Oceania Group I again in 2014 after Australia denied them a spot in the World Group play-offs in 2013.

Uzbekistan fell 3-1 to Australia in their Asia/Oceania Group I 2nd round clash in Namanagan. Uzbek No. 1 Denis Istomin won the only rubber for the hosts', pegging Australia back to 1-1 after Bernard Tomic had defeated Farrukh Dustov in the opening rubber, but a five-set doubles win for Lleyton Hewitt and Matthew Ebden put the visitors back in the ascendancy before Tomic sealed the triumph with a four-set victory over Istomin.
History
Uzbekistan has reached the World Group play-offs on six occasions, in 2009, 2012, and also between 1998 and 2001. Prior to 1992, players from Uzbekistan represented Soviet Union.
