Last tie 5-7 April 2013
Canada followed its stunning first round victory over five-time champions Spain with a 3-1 quarterfinal win against Italy in Vancouver. History
Canada has equalled its best Davis Cup result, achieved in 1913, by reaching the semifinals for a second time. Since the introduction of the World Group in 1981, Canada has won just two ties - defeating Spain in this year's first round and Italy in the quarterfinals. Canada's Harry Fritz played in the longest Davis Cup singles rubber in terms of the number of game (100), beating Venezuela's Jorge Andrew 1614 119 911 46 119 in 1982. Meanwhile, another Canadian, Dale Power, was involved in the joint-longest singles set in the competition's history - 46 games - in 1976.
