Next tie 13-15 Sept 2013
Belgium will look to avoid immediate relegation from the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group when they take on Israel in the play-off. Belgium have been involved in 20 play-offs in the last 23 years, winning 12 of those.
Last tie 1-3 Feb 2013
Unable to make the most of their home advantage, Belgium were outclassed by Serbia at the Spiroudome de Charleroi as the visitors raced to an unassailable 3-0 lead after singles wins for Viktor Troicki and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic before Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic secured victory in the doubles. David Goffin and Steve Darcis plugged away in the final two dead rubbers to earn a respectable scoreline for the hosts, defeating Boris Pashanski and Nenad Zimonjic, but it was too little too late.
History
Belgium's best performance came back in 1904, when it finished runner-up. More recently, the Belgians reached the semifinals in 1999.
