GENEVA, SWITZERLAND: After such a great start to the 2013 season Stanislas Wawrinka talks positively about Switzerland's chances against defending champions Czech Republic this weekend. Wawrinka reached the fourth round and came within a couple of points of eliminating the eventual champion Novak Djokovic in a late night five-set thriller on Rod Laver Arena.
Czech No. 1 Tomas Berdych also feels optimistic about Czech Republic's first round encounter despite losing his Davis Cup stalwart Radek Stepanek to a back injury. Like Wawrinka he has been nominated to play on all three days which is an exhausting prospect if matches go to five sets.
