ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN: Evgeny Korolev talks to DavisCup.com following his sublime win over the higher-ranked and more experienced Davis Cup player, Jurgen Melzer, citing it as one of the Top 3 wins of his career.
“You know I need a day to really recognise what I’ve done today," says the No. 211-ranked player following his first ever victory in Davis Cup.
"Korolev just had one of those days in his career where wherever he swings it’s going in," added the Kazakh captain Dias Doskarayev.
The Kazakh team are expecting Austrian captain Clemens Trimmel to change his line-up for the doubles to include two-time Grand Slam doubles champion Melzer in the mix.
“I would be ready of course," says Melzer. "It wasn’t a physical match today it was more mentally tough. We’re still in the tie, they have to prove that they can keep up this level. And if they do, they deserve to win.”
Doskarayev says, "We want to keep our heads cool, 2-0 is nothing and how many times have we witnessed where it turns around and three points went the other way."
