ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN: Austria live to fight another day after their doubles pairing of Julian Knowle and Alexander Peya produced a routine straight sets victory to see off Andrey Golubev and Yuriy Schukin.
Knowle and Peya are both ranked in the world's top 30 for doubles and as Knowle admitted there was a definite "gulf in class" between the two teams. Despite some good play from the hosts it was clear they were not regulars on the doubles tour and the Austrians exploited their abiity to come to the net.
Austrian captain Clemens Trimmel speaks of his delight that his doubles players once again supplied the goods and are still in the tie come the third day.
Golubev and Schukin admit to being pleased with their performance despite their straight sets loss and appreciate it was hard to find a way past the doubles specialists.
