After playing their part in guiding Switzerland to its first Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group quarterfinal since 2004, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka have been rewarded with a home quarterfinal in Geneva on 4-6 April.

The Swiss team, who defeated Serbia 3-2 in the World Group first round in Novi Sad, has elected to play its last eight clash with Kazakhstan indoors at the Palexpo in Geneva, with the surface yet to be confirmed.

It is the second straight year Switzerland has used the Palexpo as a tie venue, having also played there during its 3-2 loss to the Czech Republic in the first round last year. Prior to that tie, Switzerland had not played at the Palexpo since its 3-2 World Group first round defeat to Spain in 2007.

In a repeat of their 2011 quarterfinal, France duels with Germany, this time on home soil, indoors at the Palais des Sports Jean Weille in Nancy. Arnaud Clement’s French team will hope that home support can carry them into the last four and deny Germany a place in its first World Group semifinal since 2007.

Czech Republic, Davis Cup champion for the last two years running, faces a daunting trip to Tokyo’s Ariake Colosseum for its quarterfinal tie. Jaroslav Navratil’s men saw off a stern fight from Netherlands in the first round to earn the trip – their sixth quarterfinal in the last seven years.

Japan will host the tie on an indoor hard court, which may yet play into the hands of the visitors who have won each of their last six ties on the surface.

Italy has until 17 February to confirm the venue for its quarterfinal tie against Great Britain.
