Nominations for Asia/Oceania Zone Group II announced

The nominations for the Asia/Oceania Zone Group II event taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan, have been announced.

Last year’s runners-up Hong Kong, China are without their two star players from the 2013 campaign but will look to youngsters Eudice Chong, who is unbeaten in five rubbers in the competition, and Wu Ho Ching to lead them to promotion when the event kicks off on 4 February.

Sania Mirza returns to the Indian side who are looking to bounce back from relegation last season in the absence of their star name while New Zealand boast the highest ranked player to be nominated in Marina Erakovic who is coming off her best year on the Tour finishing the season at world No. 48.

Iraq are featuring in Fed Cup for only the third time having been absent since 2000 having lost all their previous ties. Iran will also be looking to score their first victory in the competition having been on the losing end in all their previous 15 ties.
