Russia changes venue for South Africa battle

NEWS ARTICLE

Olympic Stadium Moscow

Russia will now take on South Africa at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow in a bid to avoid relegation from Europe/Africa Zone Group I.

The Europeans had originally chosen to play the tie at the Tennis Palace of Army Central Sport Club but due to operational reasons have decided to change locations.

The change of venues could prove favourable for the hosts, who have contested three Davis Cup Finals at the Olympic Stadium, including their most recent title win in 2006.

The stadium was originally built in 1980 for the Moscow Summer Olympic Games and is regularly divided up to host a variety of events, including basketball, boxing and, of course, tennis.

The Olympic Stadium also plays host to the ATP's Kremlin Cup, which is taking place this week in Moscow.
