The fight for promotion is still open in El Salvador

The fourth day of competition in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Group II event that is being held in the Maya Country Tennis Club in Santa Tecla, El Salvador has left everything to be played for on the final day.

In Group B there were no surprises as Bahamas showed their superiority over hosts El Salvador 3-0. Dominican Republic also managed to get a very important point against Trinidad and Tobago in a more contested tie 2-1. Costa Rica and Uruguay competed to improve, with promotion already out of their reach, competed to improved their final positions with the Uruguayans prevailing 2-1.

The decisive final day will see the clash between Bahamas and Dominican Republic for the top spot in Group B that will see them progress to Americas Group I in 2014.

In Group A, Guatemala and Bolivia, competed in a very close match to keep their promotional chances alive. The Bolivians ended up clinching the victory but, in the end, their second position with no more matches to play means that the top spot is out of reach for them.

Ecuador has take a big step forward towards promotion with a victory over Puerto Rico 3-0. The Ecuadorians will now clash in the decisive day against Guatemala, the two only nations of the group with promotion chances.

Everything will be decided tomorrow, only two nations will progress to Group I and the rest will need to wait to another Group II Round Robin next year.
