CHISINAU, MOLDOVA: The draw for the 2013 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Zone Group III event took place at the Terraten Club on Tuesday with top seeds Egypt pitted against Armenia and Malta in Pool A.
No. 2 seeds Morocco, who will be looking to put the disappointment of a defeat in the promotion play-off against Lithuania last year behind them, have been drawn in Pool B against Denmark and Namibia.
Pool C contains No. 3 seeds Ireland, hosts Moldova and outsiders Kenya, who are looking to win just their third tie in the competition after returning to Fed Cup in 2012.
Arguably the hardest group happens to be the only that contains four nations. Norway, seeded fourth, have been drawn to play against Liechtenstein, Cyprus and Madagascar.
Liechtenstein's Stephanie Vogt is the highest ranked player on show in Moldova this week and will be hoping to lead her team into the promotion play-offs on Saturday.
She will face stiff competition from Madagascar's duo of Zarah Razafimahatratra and Nantenaina Ramalalaharivololona, who are both looking to lead their team into Zone Group II in their first year back in Fed Cup since 2000.
The winners of Pool A and Pool B will be drawn to play off against the winners of Pool C and Pool D to determine which two nations will be promoted to Europe/Africa Zone Group II in 2014.
