The two openings in Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Americas Zone Group II third round competition were filled on Saturday as El Salvador and Venezuela both completed 3-0 victories and will now progress to face each other for a shot at promotion into Group I.

David Souto and Luis David Martinez were in action for Venezuela against Peru's Duilio Beretta and Sergio Galdos and needed a little under 3 hours to secure a 63 67(3) 63 76(5) victory to add to yesterday's points won by Souto and Ricardo Rodriguez.

El Salvador were led to victory against Mexico thanks to Marcelo and Rafael Arevalo who won all three points between them. El Salvador won their first ever tie in Group II in the last round against Barbados and backed it up in impressive style against a favoured Mexican team as they completed victory within two days.

In the relegation play-offs Barbados moved back into the lead against Puerto Rico after Alex Llompart had drawn the sides level late yesterday. Darian King and Haydn Lewis made light work of Llompart and his partner Gilberto Alvarez on Saturday running out 63 64 61 winners.

Guatemala also moved into the lead thanks to Christopher Diaz-Figueroa and Sebastien Vidal who saw off Olivier Sajous and Joel Allen of Haiti 63 67(5) 46 63 64 in just over 4 hours of play to put them 2-1 ahead going into the final day.
