    ITF CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2007

    IBM (Trinidad & Tobago) G4 – 1-7 October
    Curacao AHO G5 8-14 October
    First Caribbean (Barbados) G4 – 15-21 October
    Digicel (St. Vincent) G5 – 22-28 October – New Event

    JITIC

    The HSBC JITIC took place in Santo Domingo from 28th July to 5th August 2007. The event drew the largest ever entry of two hundred and twenty three players; one hundred and thirty one girls and ninety two boys accompanied by twenty four coaches from Central America and the Caribbean, with sixty nine players from the English Speaking Caribbean.     DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

    ITF Caribbean 14&under Development Championships
    Aruba lifted the team trophy at this year’s ITF 14 & Under Caribbean Development Championships which were held in St Vincent from 13th to 18th August. The event was another record-breaking success with 13 of the 15 nations from the region sending teams to participate and with an entry of 23 boys and 20 girls.     Regional Training Camp
    The ITF/COTECC Regional Training Camp took place in Nassau Bahamas from 2-8 September 2007, at the National Tennis Centre. Fourteen players took part in the week long camp; Seven players from the host nation Bahamas while the other seven came from Aruba, Bermuda, Surinam, St. Vincent Netherlands Antilles and Trinidad and Tobago. The camp was conducted by Anthony Jeremiah and assisted by John Goede (Surinam) and Van Wilson (Bahamas), which was also a success due to the full participation and great organization by the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association.     COACHES EDUCATION

    15th World Wide Coaches Conference
    The 15th World Wide Coaches Conference is schedule to take place at the Hotel Resort Casino Yacht & Golf Club in Asuncion Paraguay from 22-28 October 2007. For further information, please click here.

    icoach Launched
    The ITF launched a new coaching website called ‘Tennis icoach’ The comprehensive website is designed to deliver the very best test coaching and playing information to tennis coaches, players and enthusiasts around the world. For further information click here.

    Level 1 Course
    Netherland Antilles will be organizing a Level 1 Coaches Course from 10-18 November 2007. The course will be conducted by Mr. Anthony Jeremiah, ITF Development Officer for the region.

    Play Tennis Course
    Tennis Federation of Trinidad & Tobago conducted their first Play Tennis Course from 5-8 July 2007 in Trinidad, where twenty four participants. I would like to encourage more nations to explore this opportunity of having a Play Tennis Course. To know more please click here and to read about the first course in Trinidad please click here.

    ITF JUNIOR TENNIS INITIATIVE (JTI)

    The ITF continues to encourage member nations to start a JTI Programme which is in effect, a 14 & under Junior Development Programme. To learn more about the programme please click here.

    ITF EDP PROGRAMME

    The EDP Programme continues to assist and encourage developing ITF member nations to have a JTI programme by providing free equipment to support the programme. 2007 shipment have been sent out. If you have not yet submitted your completed EDP questionnaires, then you should do no later than Friday 19 October 2007. Please remember that to be eligible to receive equipment assistance, then you should submit your 5 year plan (2007-2011). For more information on the EDP programme please click here.

    INTERNATIONAL TENNIS NUMBER (ITN)

    The International Tennis Number is a way to motivate players and to also encourage new players to the game. I am encouraging Federations to explore this area. A little more emphasis on the ITN, participation will increase at all levels. Please click here.

    CARIBBEAN NEWS

    The St. Vincent and the Grenadines have launched their website.

    Congratulations to Olivia Bennett (T&T) who won the girls 18 & under and Fabrice George (VIN) who won the boys 14 & under in the ITF IBM Junior Circuit, which took place n Trinidad from 1-6 October 2007.
