Karaki on fire for touring team
Lebanon’s Nancy Karaki was the star of the West Asia 18 and under touring team as she reached the girls’ singles final at the Grade 5 event in Bahrain and won the girls’ doubles title with Marina Albert (EGY) at the Grade 5 tournament in Kuwait. She also recorded a semifinal finish in the girls' singles event in Kuwait.

Karaki was one of four members of the team, which is part of a new project funded by the ITF and Grand Slam Development Fund (GSDF) aimed at helping promising young players from West Asia. The other team members were Anna Abu Alhaj (JOR), Kareem Al Allaf (SYR) and Ghassan Alansi (YEM). Farah Dayoub Linder, the ITF Development Officer for West Asia, was the team coach.

The first pilot project took place on 11 October-3 November and consisted of a three-day training camp in Bahrain followed by three tournaments. Alongside the events in Bahrain and Kuwait, the team also participated in a Grade 4 competition in Dubai.
