Sergis Kyratzis of Cyprus won both boys’ singles titles at the ITF/Tennis Europe 14 & Under Development Championships in Sliven, Bulgaria. Hosted by the Bulgarian Tennis Federation, the championships took place over two weeks, with players from 18 Eastern European countries taking part in two consecutive events.
Kyratzis and Bulgaria's Vilian Petrov dominated the boys' singles to contest both finals. Kyratzis needed three sets to win the opening final, before easing to a 62 62 victory in the second final. There was also a strong performance from Maksim Yersh of Belarus, who reached both semifinals. In the girls' singles, Darya Lebesheva of Belarus won the opening event without dropping a set, while Bulgarian Cveta Dimitrova (BUL) was victorious in the second week.
The Ukrainian pairing of Yuriy Kryvoy and Oleksander Kyrychenko won the first boys' doubles event, while Turkish team of Alp Horoz and Efe Yurtacan triumphed in week two. The girls' doubles saw Lebesheva and Nastassia Rubel of Belarus win the first event, before Dimitrova and Anna Veleva of Bulgaria went on to win the second title.
Hrvoje Zmajic, ITF/Tennis Europe Development Officer, said: “The 14 & Under Development Championships are one of the most important projects under the umbrella of the ITF/Tennis Europe Development Programme. Apart from providing ten singles and doubles matches for each participant over two weeks, the 14 most promising players will be invited to take part in the ITF/Tennis Europe 14 & Under Touring Teams in Europe this summer.“
