Iryna Shymanovich from Belarus showed outstanding results at the International Hard Court Championships in Maryland, US, as her and her doubles partner Alina Silich of Russia cruised through the girls’ doubles in two set matches taking home the girls doubles trophy in a 76(4) 61 win. In the seminifinals the victorious pair knocked out team player Paraguayan Camila Giangreco Campiz partnered with Colombian Maria Paulina Perez-Garcia. Viktoriya Lushkova of Ukraine had simultaneously powered through the girls’ doubles draw together with non-ITF partner Katie Boulter of Great Britain, however the Eastern Europeans proved too strong to beat in the final.

Paraguayan Camila Giangreco Campiz impressed in Canada by knocking a set off the 2nd seed Barbora Krejcikova of Czech Republic and reaching the girls’ singles semifinals. The two ITF Team players did not cross path in the singles draw, as Shymanovich reached the quarterfinals of the girls’ singles. All three ITF team players reached the quarterfinals of the girls’ doubles; Viktoriya Lushkova from Ukraine then proving her best results on tour, while Shymanovich powered on to secure a place in the girls’ doubles semifinals.

Back in the US, the Ukrainian player continued to astound as she reached the girls’ singles and doubles quarterfinals at the US Open Junior Tennis Championships.

The following three players were included:

Camila Giangreco Campiz (PAR)

Iryna Shymanovich (BLR)

Viktoriya Lushkova (UKR)

The team played the following schedule:

16-18 August 2013: ITF Training Camp

19-24 August 2013: USTA International Hard Court, Maryland, USA (G1)

25-31 August 2013: Canadian Open Junior Championships, Repentigny, Canada (G1)

1-8 September 2013: US Open Junior Tennis Championships, New York, USA (GA)

The team is financed by the Grand Slam Development Fund (GSDF), providing players not only with the opportunity to take part in top-level international competition but also the invaluable experience of travelling abroad as part of a team under the guidance of an ITF/GSDF coach.
