Jurabek Karimov (UZB) - ITF Team to Orange Bowl 2016

The ITF/GSDF Team to Orange Bowl competing in two Grade 1 tournaments and two Grade A tournament in Mexico and the USA was comprised of three boys; Jurabek Karimov of Uzbekistan, Alberto Lim of the Philippines, Youssef Hossam of Egypt and one girl; Ines Ibbou of Algeria.

Youssef Hossam of Egypt set a high standard for the ITF/GSDF Team to Orange Bowl by showing very impressive results throughout the four tournaments. In Mexico, at the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano, 13th seed Hossam powered through reaching the finals of the boys' singles, where he was defeated by Genaro Alberto Olivieri of Argentina.

At the second tournament XXIX Yucatan Cup it was the turn of Uzbekistan’s Jurabek Karimov to prove himself on court by reaching the semifinals in both the boys' singles as well as the boys' doubles category along with his non-ITF partner Alexey Aleshchev from Russia.

In the girls' categories Ines Ibbou of Algeria performed well, reaching the quarterfinals in both the singles – where she faced the 4th seed before retiring after the first set due to fatigue – and the doubles which she was unable to participate in along with her non-ITF partner.

Once in the USA, at the Eddie Herr, Ibbou reached the quarterfinals of the girls' doubles category together with her non-ITF partner Anastasia Detiuc of Moldova. It was in the boys' categories that Karimov showed his adaptability to both games by reaching the quarterfinals in the singles and doubles events.

In the last week of the tour at the Metropolia Orange Bowl International Championship, Karimov and his non-ITF partner Stefanos Tsitsipas made it through to the quarterfinals of the boys' doubles category where they played against Alberto Lim of the Philippines and Hossam.

After winning a tough match against their team mate, Lim and Hossam did the ITF Team proud in the semifinals but it was not meant to be on this occasion.

The ITF would like to thank all of the tennis federations involved in organising the tournaments during the tour and offering such great hospitality to the players while on tour.

The team, travelling with coach Ivan Molina is financed by the Grand Slam Development Fund (GSDF), which provides players with the opportunity to take part in top-level international competition as well as invaluable experience of travelling abroad as part of a team under the guidance of an ITF coach.
