In the lead up to the World Team Championship in Moscow, beach tennis players will be making the journey to Russia for a G1 tournament in Kinel-Cherkasi being staged 5-7 July with $10,000 in prize money on offer.

Preparations for this tournament, the first at this level to be held in Russia and the first event in the nation since December 2012, are already well underway with construction of stadium stands and a camp for both competitors and attending beach tennis fans. Aside from the action packed beach tennis on display, there will also be entertainment in the form of a music festival with DJs, laser show and fireworks. A beauty contest is also planned; will we see any of the players putting themselves forward for that one I wonder?

This is a great opportunity to see some high level beach tennis in Russia before the staging of the second annual World Team Championship starting less than two weeks later and some 2-3000 fans are expected to attend daily!
