Porto Seguro, Brazil - 21-23 September 2012
PORTO SEGURO, BRAZIL: This beautiful city will be host to some of the best international beach tennis players from 21-23 September.
The 2012 beach tennis season kicked off in Brazil and, ahead of this event, there have been seven ITF tournaments held in the nation already. The South American nation can also boast two players in the latest ITF rankings women’s top ten in Samantha Barijan and Joana Cortez. Jointly ranked at number seven, they are the highest ranked non-Italian female players!
Speaking of this latest Brazilian tournament, Luis Pedreira, athlete and event organiser, said: “This will be the third ITF Beach Tennis event that Bahia Pointer will bring to Porto Seguro. The first two editions of the Porto Seguro ITF G3 done in 2011 and April 2012 were a success, all players liked it very much and also enjoyed the city, the beach, the hotels… Many of them compared it to Aruba, and called it the Brazilian Aruba.”
Pedreira goes on to add: “We will have a great tournament and a big welcome party for the athletes, on the 22nd of September, which will be a Saturday night, at the Beat Beach Restaurant.”
The beach restaurant ‘Beat Beach’ with its wonderful infrastructure, is located on a marvellous beach providing the perfect scenery for such an import event for the Brazilian and international beach tennis players. There will be twelve courts, five of which will be illuminated.
The ITF Beach Tennis Tour will be back in Brazil in October and November for events in Ilheus and Salvador respectively.
Beach tennis fans can, however, catch more action before then with a non-ITF tournament, the third stage of the Bahian Championship by FBT (Bahian Tenis Federation), held over the period of 29-30 September.
