The last weekend of February and the first weekend of March will see back-to-back ITF Beach Tennis Tour tournaments staged on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria.

The Tour was last seen on the island back in late September 2012 with a Grade 3 tournament where the French-Spanish partnership of Jerome Maillot and Cristobal Ramirez respectively won an incredible men’s final 76(4) 46 [14-12] with Italian top seeds Elisa Cappelli and Stefani Servidori taking the women’s title in a straight sets 63 64 triumph.

The opening Spanish tournament of 2013 will be a Grade 4 tournament and will be held over 23-24 February and a week later over the first three days of March a Grade 3 tournament, offering €2000 in prize money will take place. Both will be held at the same venue and organised by ApPROBA Tenis Playa.

At both tournaments, alongside the ITF men’s and women’s doubles ranking events, will be a non-ranking mixed doubles event with the Grade 3 tournament in March also set to feature non-ranking singles events.

All the details of these beach tennis tournaments in Gran Canaria 2013 can be found on the factsheets published in the calendar section of the ITF Beach Tennis website and at www.approba.net

ApPROBA Tenis Playa continues to foster the growth of this sport, trying to enhance the quality of the event and its Beach Tennis School as a base for the future.

The pace of enrollment is growing at a rapid pace, with players from different parts of the Spanish geography and other European countries (Italy, France, Bulgaria, Germany, ...).
