Draw made for ITF Beach Tennis World Championship

MOSCOW, RUSSIA: The draw for the second ITF Beach Tennis World Team Championship was made on Wednesday at the captain's meeting.

The action gets underway on Thursday with four first round ties and eight second round ties.

Defending champion Italy is among 12 teams to have received a first round bye, and will start the defence of its title in round two against Ukraine, who also benefited from a bye.

Another tie that stands out sees 2012 runner-up Brazil begin its campaign with a second round clash against another South American team Venezuela.

There will be at least one debut nation in the quarterfinals, as Switzerland were drawn against upcoming European Championship host Great Britain in round one, with the winner earning a showdown with sole Asian representative Japan.

1st round ties

Spain v Estonia
Belgium v Hungary
Switzerland v Great Britain
Lithuania v Cyprus

2nd round ties

Italy (1) v Ukraine
Spain or Estonia v Austria (8)
France (4) v Belgium or Hungary
San Marino v Germany (6)
