SANYA, CHINA: International beach tennis will arrive in China for the very first time on 14-16 September.

One of the southernmost cities in China, Sanya, will be staging a G1 event at the Dadonghai Tourism Resort and will be offering $10,000 in prize money. As a top graded event on the Beach Tennis Tour it will be sure to attract the best international players.

Beach tennis has steadily grown in popularity in Asia as Japan has experienced an impressive growth with 15 Tour events on the 2012 calendar. With China now ready to host an event for the first time, further growth in the sport is widely expected.

Sanya is also home to the Chinese beach volleyball training camp, a sport with which beach tennis has close ties, and all indications suggest this tournament will kickstart the nation's development of beach tennis.
