Tournament Review

Michele Cappelletti and Luca Carli and Federica Bachetta and Giulia Gasparri were crowned men’s and women’s champions, respectively, in a sweltering conclusion to the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships in Cervia on Sunday in conditions approaching 40 degrees.

There was also Italian winners in the junior events with homegrown pairs winning the boys’ titles in all three age groups at the World Championships, while Russia claimed a clean sweep of the girls’ titles in Cervia.

Tournament Preview

The flagship individual event on the Beach Tennis Tour returns to Cervia, Italy, for a fifth consecutive year with 19 of the 20 players in the men’s and women’s Top 10 set to take part. 

The Beach Tennis Tour’s flagship individual event will take place on Italy’s east coast during the week commencing 31 July.

History was made at these Championships in 2016 with the crowning of the first ever non-Italian champions in either the men's or women's main events with the victory of Cortez and Miiller.
