Alessandro Calbucci and Marco Garavini became the first men’s pair to defend their title at the European Championships as they defeated compatriots Luca Meliconi and Luca Cramarossa for the second time in as many weeks.
Over the past month, they have achieved an international triple having won the World Team, the individual World and now the European Championships.
In the women's event, world champions Sofia Cimatti and Federica Bacchetta failed to overcome compatriots Eva D’Elia and Veronica Visani.

The seventh annual European Beach Tennis Championships, once again taking place in Brighton on England’s south coast, will be held over 8-10 August.
Top players from nations across Europe will be putting their talent on display for the second consecutive year in England where beach tennis fans will be set to take in three days of fast paced beach tennis action.
22 nations are set to take part in 2014 where the Italians will be looking to defend their titles.
