Fed Cup Final to be streamed live online
The ITF announced that the 2009 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final between Italy and USA, taking place in Reggio Calabria on 7-8 November, will be streamed live online via the new Official Fed Cup Video Website – www.fedcup.tv

The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final will welcome some of the world’s best players, providing online viewers with the chance to watch top class tennis in the unique team environment of Fed Cup by BNP Paribas.

Italy has now reached the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final three times since winning its first title in 2006. However, USA, the most successful nation having been crowned champion 17 times, has won all nine of its previous ties against the Italians.

On 4-6 December, the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Final, which sees Spain take on Czech Republic, will be streamed live from Barcelona. In 2010, selected ties from each round of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup will also be broadcast online.

Live video streaming was launched for Davis Cup by BNP Paribas in September. Both semifinals, Spain vs Israel and Croatia vs Czech Republic, received impressive viewing figures from around the world.

Jan Menneken, ITF Executive Director Commercial, said: “This is an extremely important project for the ITF. I’m delighted that we’re now in a position to offer live video streaming online. This provides another platform to showcase Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas to a worldwide audience. It also enhances our digital offering for fans and I’m looking forward to working closely with Perform to continue developing this service in the future.”

Oliver Slipper, Joint-CEO of Perform, said: “We’re very excited to be working with the ITF to deliver their live content to online tennis fans around the world. The internet is fast becoming the platform of choice for rights holders because of its ability to open up new and exciting opportunities to reach global audiences they would normally find hard to target.”

Visitors registering at the Official Fed Cup Video Website can access live tennis and can also view highlights from completed matches. Registration costs £2.95 per day, £5.95 per weekend or £9.95 for coverage of both Finals. Live streaming is not available in USA, UK, Germany, France and Ireland.
