| Wimbledon Day 5 - Djokovic finds his form |
Novak Djokovic gave a timely reminder of his championship credentials with a straight sets 3rd round victory over Mardy Fish.
The No. 4 seed, who has been off his best recently and went out in the 2nd round at last years Wimbledon, powered past the American to secure a last 16 slot against Israel's Dudi Sela.
Roger Federer dropped his first set of the tournament against Germany’s Philip Kohlschreiber, but was too strong in the end, coming out on top 63 62 67 (5) 61. Next up for him will be Robin Soderling, who defeated Spain’s Nicolas Almagro 76 (7) 64 64 to set up a repeat of the French Open final.
Elsewhere, Croatian Ivo Karlovic knocked out No. 9 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Spain’s Fernando Verdasco overcame compatriot Albert Montanes 46 61 64 76. The matches between Marin Cilic and Tommy Haas and Igor Andreev and Andreas Seppi were halted when bad light stopped play.
In the women’s draw, two time champion Serena Williams stormed into the next round, dispatching Italy's Roberta Vinci 63 64. She will next play Daniela Hantuchova, who outclassed Ai Sugiyama in straight sets. No. 4 seed Elena Dementieva needed just 59 minutes to secure her victory, thrashing fellow Russian Regina Kulikova 61 62.
Other women into the next stage are Victoria Azarenka, Nadia Petrova, Elena Vesnina and Francesca Schiavone.
