Australian Open day 13: Serena claims title
Serena Williams has won the 10th Grand Slam title of her career with a one-sided 60 63 victory over Dinara Safina in the Australian Open final.

The win also helped the American to the No. 1 spot in the rankings and was her fourth title in Melbourne following wins in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Safina, competing in her second Grand Slam final and first in Australia, was never in the match and basically gifting her opponent the trophy with five double faults and 21 unforced errors in a match that lasted less than an hour.

“Not much to say as I didn't spend one hour on the court," Safina said afterwards. "Serena Williams played just too good - I was just the ball boy on the court today."

Williams graciously commented: "Dinara will have a great future - she is hitting so hard I just had to go for broke against her."

In the mens doubles final, twins Bob and Mike Bryan swept won their third Australian Open doubles title after defeating Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 26 75 60.
