Australian Open Day 3: Easy for Djokovic & Federer
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both won comfortably in straight-sets to advance into the third round of the Australian Open.

Federer remains on course for a record-equalling 14th Grand Slam title after easily defeating Evgeny Korolev 62 63 61. This sets up a third-round clash with Marat Safin, after the Russian today achieved a straight-sets win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The pair played in 2005 when Safin got the better of the Swiss legend on his way to the title in that year.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic was pushed in the first set, but proved too good for Jeremy Chardy to come out victorious 75 61 63. The Serb will now face American Amer Delic in the last 32.

Tenth seed David Nalbandian suffered a shock 64 57 46 64 62 defeat to Chinese Taipei's Lu Yen-Hsun, but here were no such problems for Andy Roddick, David Ferrer, Stanislas Wawrinka, Gilles Muller and Juan Martin del Potro who all move forward to the next round.

Top seed Jelena Jankovic was made to work by Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens before securing her place in the third round with a 64 75 victory. No. 3 seed Dinara Safina dropped the first set against fellow Russian Ekaterina Makarova, but showed her experience to come out on top 67(3) 63 60.

There was good news for the home crowd as Jelena Dokic rolled back the years to claim the scalp of No. 17 seed Anna Chakvetadze 64 67(4) 63. Elsewhere there were wins for Ana Invanovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Vera Zvonareva and Daniela Hantuchova.
