| Davydenko joins Djokovic and Murray in last four |
Nikolay Davydenko became the third player to secure a place in the Tennis Masters Cup semifinals following a 63 62 whipping of the in-form Juan Martin del Potro.
The Russian took control of the match early on, dominating play against the 20-year-old Argentine and wrapping up the match in 96 minutes.
"I feel great after reaching the semi-finals. I had a chance in my last match against Djokovic, but I didn't take it and today was my last chance to reach the semifinals," said Davydenko.
In the other remaining gold group match Jo-Wilfried Tsonga scored his first win of the competition when he overcame group winner Novak Djokovic 16 75 61.
Although the Serbian started well, breaking Tsonga twice and claiming the first set in just 25 minutes, he was matched by his opponent in the second set and four unforced errors handed Tsonga the break and with it the second set. The Paris Masters champion dominated in the final set to claim victory.
"He was better than me in the first two sets, but I took the second one. It was daylight robbery!" Tsonga said.
