Eighteen new White Badge chair umpires and four new White Badge referees have joined the ITF Officiating community after they passed the combination of written examinations and practical officiating at the Level 2 School in Vierumaki, Finland.

The school, which took place from 1-4 August, was taught by ITF/Grand Slam Chair Umpires Alison Hughes and Pascal Maria and ITF Regional Officer for Europe Anders Wennberg. Twenty-seven officials from 13 countries attended the school which was held alongside an ITF Pro-Circuit men’s Futures event.

The school was intended for those officials who have started to build up experience of officiating at professional events and focused on the Rules of Tennis, Code of Conduct, chair umpiring and refereeing techniques and procedures.

More Level 2 Schools are planned in Heraklion, Greece (16-20 October) and in Bangkok, Thailand (27 November-1 December).

As ITF Officiating is also committed to further developing Green Badge Chair Umpires the following Level 1 Schools (taught in French and Spanish) are also confirmed in Kigali, Rwanda (25-29 September), Santa Cruz, Bolivia (2-6 October) and Dakar, Senegal (27 November-1 December).
