Michele Cappelletti and Luca Carli put in a perfect performance at the Open International des Brisants in Reunion, defeating top seeds and fellow Italians Luca Cramarossa and Marco Garavini 63 63 in the final last weekend.

The pair lost just one set all week, recovering in the semifinals the Italian-Spanish pairing of Mikael Alessi and Antomi Ramos-Viera to set up a final showdown with Cramaross and Garavini.

In the women’s event, Sofia Cimatti and Flaminia Daina romped to the title without dropping a set, defeating No. 1 seeds Federica Bacchetta and Giulia Gasparri 63 76(1) in another all-Italian final.

The popular event sees around 350 players compete across 15 different events at both amateur and professional levels. Approximately 600 matches are played, culminating in the two professional finals on a packed centre court.

“Reunion is my garden,” Cappelletti enthused after his victory. “Thanks for the support of Reunion public. I feel like I have a second home here.”

His sentiments were shared by Cimatti.

“The public here is incredible,” she said. “It's my 3rd time in Reunion and already I am sad to go back home. For sure I will be here next year.”
