World No. 8 Italian Alessandro Calbucci has had a successful couple of weeks in Brazil, winning two high-prize money tournaments, a $15,000+H tournament in Santos followed by the $10,000 tournament in Fortaleza, in two consecutive weeks.

Calbucci claimed victory at the first tournament with top Russian player and World No.6, Nikita Burmakin. The pair won the final in straight sets beating Italian duo, former World No.1 Michele Cappelletti and World No.5 Tommasso Giovannini.

After closely missing out on the title in Santos, Cappelletti partnered Calbucci at the $10,000 tournament the following week, going on to win the final against local stars Marcus Ferreira and Thales Santos.

Brazilian World Team Championship players, Ralff Abreu and Diogo Carneiro fell short reaching the semifinals at the $15,000+H tournament and the quarterfinals at the $10,000 tournament.

In the women's draw, former No.1's Flaminia Daina and Patricia Diaz claimed the title at the first tournament after beating Maraike Biglmaier and Rafaella Miiller.

The German-Brazilian duo of Biglmaier and Miiller fought back winning the second tournament in straight sets against Joana Cortez, Miiller's routine partner and Marcela Vita, fellow World Team Championship teammate of both Miiller and Cortez.
