Romanian teenager Andreea Amalia Rosca saw out the 2017 season with two tournaments in Egypt followed by a trip to Turkey.

Rosca, 18, had not contested a singles final on the Pro Circuit since reaching her first two finals in Sozopol, Bulgaria in late 2016 but that would change this month.

Cairo staged the two Egyptian tournaments Rosca competed in this month and saw her leave with her first singles titles and, at the second of these tournaments, Rosca also picked up her first doubles title since 2016 when playing alongside fellow Romanian Gabriela Nicole Tatarus.

As well as the city, the two tournaments also had another familiarity about them for Rosca. During the latter stages of both tournaments, Rosca played, and defeated, Nastja Kolar and Melanie Klaffner in the semifinals and finals respectively.

Her first career title was secured with a tight 64 64 win over Klaffner and she followed that up a week later when defeating the same opponent 61 63.

Her final tournament of the year failed to yield any further titles, losing in the singles semis to eventual champion Maryna Chernyshova and, again alongside Tatarus, finishing as runner-up in the doubles.  There was good news though to end the year as the final WTA rankings of 2017 showed Rosca had broken into the Top 600 for the first time at 599.
