Top seeds Luca Cramarossa and Marco Garavini defeated Alessandro Calbucci and world No. 1 Michele Cappelletti in a thrilling three-set final at the $35,000 + H Guyaquil Open in Ecuador.

Cramarossa and Garavini overcame the all-Brazilian pairing of Vinicius Chaparro and Vinicius Font 76(1) 46 62 in the semifinals before beating Calbucci and Cappelletti 64 67(2) 62 in the title match to claim the biggest ITF Beach Tennis Tour title in South America.

In the women’s event, the German-Brazilian pair of former world No. 1 Maraike Biglmaier and current world No. 5 Raffaella Miiller enjoyed a perfect week to claim the title. The fourth seeds did not drop a set on their way to their first title together.

After defeating top seeds Sofia Cimatti and Flaminia Daina 62 63 in the semifinals, Biglmaier and Miiller continued the momentum in the final, crushing second seeds Federica Bacchetta and Giulia Gasparri 60 64 to seal victory.

Just one more tournament at this level remains this year, with the Tour’s attention soon to switch to Aruba for the Aruba Beach Tennis Open 2017 in November.
