Czech Republic and USA triumph on Finals day

News Article

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY: It's been a challenging week for everyone at the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals in Budapest. But for the two champion teams, those challenges will matter little compared to the thrill of winning a prestigious title for their nations.

Czech Republic won its first Junior Davis Cup title for 20 years after defeating USA 2-0 in the Final. The Czechs remain unbeaten after an outstanding week in the Hungarian capital, with Josef Cihak's team dropping just three sets in 12 rubbers throughout their time here.

In the girls' Final, USA ended a losing streak in Junior Fed Cup title matches by defeating Japan 2-0. All three members of the American team had been on the losing side in previous team competition finals - Caty McNally and Amanda Anisimova lost to Poland here last year, while Whitney Osuigwe fell to Ukraine in the 2016 ITF World Junior Tennis Final.

We take a look back at the action from the Finals.
