Nino Serdarusic capped a fine three-week spell by winning his first career title on the ITF Pro Circuit at the Serbia F1 Futures in Novi Sad on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Croatian, who had finished runner-up at two Macedonian Futures events over the previous two weeks, struck it third time lucky on the men’s circuit after defeating Italian Antonio Massara 61 64 to make his breakthrough in singles.

Serdarusic, who had lost the previous six singles finals he had contested at Futures level, also made the final of the doubles event alongside Hungarian partner Gabor Borsos, falling to Australian duo Dane Propoggia and Scott Puodziunas 63 75.

While Serdarusic’s singles was his first individual title on the Pro Circuit, the Croatian is a regular title-winner in doubles. He has collected six doubles titles on the circuit this year alone – the third straight year he has won six Pro Circuit doubles crowns in a season to up his overall tally to 18.

Serdarusic, currently ranked No. 305 in the world, reached a career-high junior ranking of No. 21 and represented Croatia at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
