Brits celebrate in Japan

KURUME, JAPAN: An all-British singles final took place at the $60,000 tournament held in Kurume as Laura Robson took on Katie Boulter.

Robson, seeded fourth, ran out a 63 64 winner against her unseeded compatriot although Boulter also had cause for celebration as her run to the final saw her climb to a new career high WTA singles ranking of 243.

Over in the doubles event there was further British success as Katy Dunne claimed the title alongside her Australian partner Tammi Patterson. The fourth seeded duo came from behind to defeat the unseeded Japanese pairing of Erina Hayashi and Robu Kajitani 67(3) 62 [10-4].
