Final Qualifying clean sweep for USA

USA Junior Davis Cup team

The North/Central America and Caribbean final qualifying events for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals as well as Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas took place in Mexico with the USA proving they are the ones to watch.

All four USA teams finished on top during the North/Central America and Caribbean Final Qualifying event that was held in Campeche, Mexico, from 27-29 April.  The USA dropped just one rubber across all four events over the three days of competition.

Three Canadian teams finished a close second, while Mexico clinched second place in the ITF World Junior Tennis boys' event.  These teams will join USA at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic and the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals in Budapest, Hungary. 

The USA Junior Fed Cup team, led by 15 year old Whitney Osuigwe, asserted their dominance cruising through for the loss of just two sets. Canada beat both Mexico and Guatemala to claim second place.

The USA Junior Davis Cup team lost just one rubber across the three days of competition. They will be joined by Canada who they defeated 2-1 on the final day.   

In the ITF World Junior Tennis boys’ competition, USA and Mexico had already qualified after the first two days of play having already sealed two victories.  The USA then defeated Mexico on the third and final day, for the loss of just six games, to claim the top spot.

The ITF World Junior Tennis girls’ competition saw Canada and USA tying for first place going into the final day before going head-to-head to confirm who would go to the Finals as the region’s winner. The USA continued their dominance cruising through with a 3-0 win over Canada.
