Britain’s Gordon Reid and Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany won the men’s and women’s singles titles on Thursday’s final day of the Be Active Adelaide Open, part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, with Ellerbrock collecting her second successive title of 2013 after winning the Queensland Open.

World No. 9 Reid capped his seasonal debut in style, beating Australia’s Adam Kellerman 62 63 in the men’s singles final.

Reid had beaten Kellerman in the Adelaide quarterfinals in both 2010 and 2012 and secured another straight sets win to take his career head-to-head against the Australian No. 2 to 5-0.

“I’m very happy to get the two titles under my belt this week and pleased to begin the 2013 season in a positive way,” said Reid. “It was important to get some matches played outdoors in the heat after a long indoor stint over the winter, so I'm happy with the preparation this week before Sydney.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started in Sydney, where I know the competition will be tougher and I will have to raise my game. I’m also looking forward to a couple more tournaments playing doubles with Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands. We are still unbeaten going in to Sydney and Melbourne, so I’m excited for the test of trying to remain unbeaten”

In the women’s singles decider Ellerbrock was taken to three sets by Korea Republic’s Ju-Yeon Park, but produced a convincing final set to remain unbeaten after the first two tournaments on the 2013 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.

With Ellerbrock and Park both having won the first three of their round-robin matches comfortably, Ellerbrock went on to beat Park 60 57 62 to lift the Adelaide title following her victory at the Queensland Open.

Ellerbrock goes to the APIA Sydney International Open, the first Super Series tournament of 2013, unbeaten in six matches so far this season.
