The week of 12th November 2012 proved a family affair on the ITF Pro Circuit with two out of the five doubles titles up for grabs going to sister partnerships.
At the $25,000 Helsinki tournament, top seeds and twins, Lyudmyla and Nadiya Kichenok of the Ukraine, breezed past second seeds Irina Buryachok (UKR) and Valeria Solovieva (RUS) winning 63 63 in the final. This was the third $25,000 final in as many weeks for the duo who have won five ITF Pro Circuit doubles titles together in 2012 alone.
In the week that saw their male compatriots battle past the Spanish to lift the Davis Cup trophy, the Czech sisters, Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova also flew the Czech flag high in Zawada, Poland, adding a third doubles title to their 2012 haul with a straight sets win over Kristina Barrois (GER) and Sandra Klemenschits (AUT).
There was a double celebration for Karolina who also won the singles event in Zawada, her second singles title of the year. The second seed took on fourth-seeded Ana Vrljic in the final and battled to a 63 62 win.
All eyes this week will be on the Sema sisters, Erika and Yurika, from Japan who will be looking to add the $75,000+H Toyota title to their collection in front of a home crowd. See here for daily results.
