Kanako Domori survived a scare on Friday as the men’s and women’s singles semifinal line-ups were decided at the Peace Cup, part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, while Mitsuteru Moroishi and Tzu-Hsuan Huang also won through to the quad singles final in Hiroshima.

Second seed Domori was given a stern test by Kanae Kodoma, but came through 63 67(3) 63 to earn a women’s singles semifinal against fourth seed Chia-Yi Lu of Chinese Taipei, who also had a tough time against Yumiko Inoue before finally prevailing in two close sets 75 76(8).

Both semifinals in the top half of the women’s draw were far more straightforward, with top seed Yui Kamiji continuing her title defence with a 60 60 win over Chiharu Imaizumi, while third seed Miho Nijo defeated Yumi Sugiyama 62 61.

The quad singles final will see Moroishi and Chinese Taipei’s Huang go head-to-head in a rematch of their semifinal in Hiroshima in 2011, a contest that Huang won en route to finishing runner-up in the tournament.

Moroishi eased through his semifinal against Shinichi Hirata 62 60, but Huang needed one game less as he secured his place in the final after beating Norihiko Yamamoto 60 61.

Third seed Yoshinobu Fujimoto and fourth seed Yusuke Nishimura both reached the men’s singles semifinals with identical scores after surviving tough opening sets.

Fujimoto eventually beat Takahiro Hirate 75 62, while Nishimura overcame Koji Sugeno as all four seeds reached the last four.

Second seed Satoshi Saida faces Nishimura in the semifinals after easing to a 62 62 win over Yoshinobu Tanaka, while  top seed Taksashi Sanada, who was runner-up to Saida in 2011, won his quarterfinal against Yoshikuni Shibayama 60 61 to put himself in line for a semifinal against Fujimoto.
